International schools in Singapore
What this entry covers
Singapore has a large number of international schools for a city of its size, from small single-campus schools to schools with several thousand students. The Singapore listings on International Schools DB show curriculum, age range and location for each school, which is a quicker first sort than reading individual school websites.
Who may attend
Singapore citizens are normally required to attend a national primary school, and need approval from the Ministry of Education to attend an international school instead. Foreign children can attend international schools without that approval. They can also apply to government schools, usually through the Admissions Exercise for International Students (AEIS), a test-based entry route with limited places.
School year
Government schools run from January to November. Most international schools follow a northern-hemisphere calendar from August to June, although a few follow the local January start. If you are moving mid-year, ask about rolling admission.
Editor's notes
- Many larger schools have more than one campus with different age ranges. Check which campus a place is offered at before you pick housing.
- Fees usually rise each year and there are often separate building or development charges. Ask for the full fee schedule, not only tuition.
- Curricula vary widely: British, American, IB, Australian, Canadian, Indian, French, German, Japanese and others are all available.
